Canoeing & Kayaking

Active Sports is a provider of recreational adventure at its best, providing activities and adventure in the Air, on the Water, and over Land, to industry, education, and the general public.

Introduction

We pride ourselves in these two disciplines with over 27 years of experience. Based in the Borders, many of the courses we run are well catered for by the local rivers, such as The Tweed, Teviot, Border Esk, Ettrick, Yarrow and many more. Although we have great variety in the Borders, we like to indulge ourselves and run many trips north, adding as many rivers and lochs to our log books as we can.

We have courses for every need:

bulletBeginners - "which end is the front!?"
bulletCorporate - "this beats sitting in the office!"
bulletThe Intermediate - "so, where's the next rapid!"
bulletThe Advanced - "aargh, scary, what a buzz!"
bulletCertificated courses at all levels
bulletCompetition coaching

Canoeing

What a great way to spend a day with the family and friends paddling down the river - Dad in the back, Mum in the front and the kids in the middle. Or maybe its you in the back with your partner in the front getting a taste of white water!

When we go canoeing we always take a picnic: crisps, biscuits, sweets, lemonade, and of course the wine (low alcohol of course!) It's brill, stopping half way down the river chilling out! Sometimes its such a hard life being an instructor!

Age range: 8 years and older (Parents must accompany)

Kayaking

This is almost a different sport from canoeing. You're on your own, so you can't blame your partner if you keep going round in circles! But once you have mastered the basics, the Border Rivers will give you endless challenges (be prepared to take a few swims!)

Age range: 10 years and older (Parents must accompany)

Location: Central Borders and North of Scotland

Age Range: See above

Time of year: June - October
